no speed limit

My first you tube appearence. Driving fast on the German Autobahn. We were driving around 200kph in a Volvo with a really small engine so I have the music turned way up to hide the sound of it straining at 6000 RPM. It is nerve wracking going that fast in a car not exactly made for it and when you can feel it move without your control then the butterflies start fluttering. This speed is pretty standard, later that day I pushed it to 220 kph or 133 mph my new speed record. It was a nice day for a drive and I went through 2 tanks of gas.

  • Nice, what sort of Volvo is that? Is that the new C30, I love those things. I almost bought one myself. I love the song, is that Justice? I can’t really tell.

  • I watched an interesting piece on the autoban and their laws. Mainly, they have a ridiculous tail-gating law with a slightly rudimentary, but effective way of catching people following a little too close.
What I found reaally interesting, was that there was not one flat rate for tail-gating, like there are flat-rates for speeding here. Rather, your ticket reflected the amount of money you made. One German police officer said the highest fine they ever gave out was for the equivalent of $20,000 dollars.

What’s the comparison of car accidents like?

  • The biggest speeding ticket ever was for the Finnish CEO of Nokia. He got a $103,600 ticket for going 47mph in a 31mph zone. Ouch!
