To paid journalists, blogging poses a supposed threat to the industry. If anyone can convey information in a public forum, then whats the point of conventional paid journalism? The answer lies in the nature of blogging as a lassez faire enterprise, where its contents are unstandardized. Trained journalists still hold the integrity of being the gatekeepers of accepted information and I don’t see this changing. This is not to discredit blogging as it is an excellent medium for almost anyone to express their views and that the integrity of the content posted is up to the individual. This lends to a lot of junk floating out there but some of the time an individual can draw phenomenon to light and publicize it in a sharp and intelligent way that would not have been possible without this free medium being available.
